How Many Ozone Therapy Sessions Will I Need?

Ozone is a gas that is famous for its role in the planet’s atmosphere, but did you know that it can also be used in medical settings? Indeed, ozone therapy has the potential to support your body’s healing process, reduce inflammation, and promote long-term pain relief. But how does ozone therapy work, and how many sessions will you need in order to experience optimum results? This blog post provides some helpful information.

Ozone Therapy: The Basics

During ozone therapy, a medical professional may inject a combination of liquid ozone and O2 (regular oxygen) into the targeted part of your body. Or, the ozone may be mixed with your blood and administered intravenously. In either case, the ozone molecules tend to break apart very quickly, which sparks a reaction in the body that can lead to health benefits. For example, ozone:

  • Kills harmful microorganisms.
  • Increases tissue oxygenation.
  • Decreases joint inflammation.
  • Can provide benefits for people with autoimmune disorders.
  • Supports the immune system.
  • Increases NAD+ production. (NAD+ is a coenzyme that supports mitochondrial function and overall metabolic health.)
  • And more!

How Many Sessions Will You Need?

Your treatment plan will be a matter of discussion when you visit your ozone therapy provider for your initial consultation. They will learn about your condition and make an estimate as to how many ozone sessions you will need.

In many cases, 12 – 15 sessions (perhaps two each week) are needed for the initial course of treatment. If you have not seen significant improvement by the end of that time period, your doctor may recommend additional sessions. Thereafter, periodic maintenance sessions (possibly every few months) may be recommended.

When Will You Notice Results?

Even though it can take quite a few sessions to complete a course of ozone therapy, the good news is that many patients start to notice a difference in how they feel well before they finish all their sessions. Of course, that does not mean you can end your treatment early. For your results to last as long as possible, you should finish the prescribed number of sessions.

Ozone therapy may significantly boost your health! Talk to a qualified medical professional to learn more about this treatment and what you can expect from it.
